How to enable a new seller?

Posting of auctions is supported on both, business and personal Facebook pages. Each page has to be registered so that auctions can be posted on it. Once the page is registered, any person that has admin rights for the registered page can post auctions on it. When creating an auction, the ‘seller’ chooses which Facebook page to post the auction on (out of the ones that are registered and he/she has admin rights for) – this cannot be changed once the auction is created/saved.

The following are the setps involved in registering a Facebook page for posting. The main actors are: (1) an administrator of the DIY Auction website (the site administrator) and (2) an administrator of the Facebook page being registered (the perspective seller).

  1. The perspective seller has to have a Facebook account and a personal or a business Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com);
  2. The perspective seller now visits the DIY Auctions website and fills in the registration form (/registration-page/ – also available via the main menu: ‘…’ -> ‘Admin’). Before accessing the form, the perspective seller will be redirected to login into his/her Facebook account;
    • The perspective seller will have to grant all the Facebook permissions she/he is prompted for
    • The perspective seller will have to select which Facebook page he/she wants to register for posting of auctions
    • The perspective seller then submits the request by clicking on the register button.
  3. The site administrator can now approve the Facebook page for auction posting using the site’s admin area (/admin-page/)
  4. Any person that has admin rights for the registered Facebook page can post auctions on it regardless of who has actually registered the page.
